"Superman"?

If
Superman is supposed to have "powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men", then why isn't his intelligence also superior to us mere mortals? He may be "faster than a speeding bullet" and "more powerful than a locomotive"... but he doesn't seem to be a whole lot smarter than anybody else!
How come he's never bothered trying to find a cure for cancer, or solving such problems as the Riemann Hypothesis in mathematics? Instead, he merely goes around showing off his physical abilities by taking unfair advantage of ordinary "bad guys" who aren't fortunate enough to posess his gifted attributes.
If Superman is really "super", then it seems to me that he should have more than just super muscles. He should have a super brain as well. But he doesn't.
