Creating Ultra-SiMPLE Programs

If you plan to write Ultra-SiMPLE progams that are to be used all over the world, you must remain aware of the fact that not all computers are equipped with exactly the same set of font capabilities. Based upon our somewhat limited experience to date, the following are some guidelines that you might want to follow:

• Arial seems to be a fairly universal font. (In fact, if you try to use an "unknown" font in your program, Arial will usually be the font that results.)
  
  
• Courier New also seems to be a fairly universal font. [But just plain Courier (without the New) doesn't work correctly on some Israeli computers.]
  
  
• Avoid specifying any Bold fonts. [The Bold attribute doesn't work correctly on some German computers.]
  
  
• Avoid specifying the Fixedsys font. [The Fixedsys font doesn't work correctly on some Israeli computers.] Instead, use the Outtextxy (Int x, Int y, Text t) task to display text in a "Fixedsys" mode.
  
  
• Most of the other "standard" fonts (Times New Roman, Comic Sans MS, etc.) all seem to work OK.
